District Announcements
District Survey on School Start Times is ready for responses from Monroe County School District Parents

In answer to parents’ concerns School Board members have proposed that the district conduct a survey to get input on school start times.  The survey response period begins on December 1st; it is available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.  It is very important that parents complete the survey at the link below to express their thoughts on this important topic. You need to fill out only one survey even if you have children in more than one school. The survey will direct you to questions regarding both schools. The preferred method is to take the survey online; however, paper and pencil versions of the survey will be available at your child’s school as well. As a convenience, if you are unable to complete the survey at home, you may go to the Parent Education Center at each school to complete the survey on a computer or you can complete a paper and pencil version as stated above. School staff will advise you how to complete the paper and pencil version. We would like to get as many parents to participate in the survey as possible, so that we will have the best information to use for planning any changes which may be in order. You will assist us in responding to your needs by completing the survey today. The survey link is below. The deadline for completing the survey is Dec. 22nd. Thank you.

This Week at PKS
Students of the Week
Ms. Clarke picks Adrianna Gonzalez as her student of the week. Adriana is a wonderful role model of a PKS PRIDE student. She is prepared for class on a daily basis and always puts forth her best effort on everything she does in class. She is respectful to both teachers and her classmates! Way to go Adriana! Keep up the great work! I am very proud of you!

Jack Stanfill is being nominated for student of the week.  He is always on task, devoted to learning, a good role model for other children.  Jack comes to school with a great mindset.  He is helpful to his classmates and is a pleasure to have as a student.  He is the true meaning of Panther “PRIDE” KG-Diana Bassett

Alaina was selected by the middle school staff. Alaina is a wonderful addition to PKS. She is polite, a very hard worker, and an all-around excellent student. Congratulations Alaina and welcome to PKS!

Upper Keys Rotary and CFFK Supporting Literacy at PKS
On Thursday, October 13th, PKS was presented with a check for $500 from the Upper Keys Rotary Club and a second check for $500 from the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK). These funds to support an innovative literacy program, for grades K-8, call "PKS Readers are Leaders." This exciting program encourages students to read books of their own choosing and encourages students to fall in love with reading. PKS thinks the Upper Keys Rotary and CFFK are absolutely "Pawesome!"
